Gordon is a recognised leader in GIS mapping, regulatory approvals, and seismic exploration, with over 30 years of experience in the geophysical industry. A graduate of SAIT’s Engineering Design and Drafting program, Gordon began his career in seismic exploration, developing expertise in geospatial analysis, field operations, and regulatory compliance.
As Synterra’s GIS & Approvals Manager, Gordon leads the GIS and Approvals department, overseeing seismic mapping and regulatory approvals while supporting private landowner permitting and environmental assessments. His expertise in GIS analysis, LiDAR processing, and environmental preplanning ensures projects meet evolving regulations and site-specific conditions. Gordon also plays a key role in supporting field operations, managing government submissions, and collaborating with contractors on wildlife and environmental assessments.
Respected for his analytical mindset and problem-solving skills, Gordon has proven track record of delivering high-quality mapping solutions for a wide range of exploration projects. His extensive knowledge of Alberta and Saskatchewan’s approval processes makes him a trusted resource for clients, field personnel, and stakeholders alike.
Outside of work, Gordon enjoys soccer, badminton, and pickleball, and spends time hiking (usually in search of his golf ball!) while supporting his three children’s activities. His ability to balance multiple responsibilities enhances both his professional and personal life, making him an invaluable asset to Synterra.
